SDLP Councillor for Shantallow, Brian Tierney has appealed for information on a spate of vandalism which took place in the area on Wednesday evening.
Colr. Tierney condemned the vandalism and said it was through such actions that local people felt unsafe.
“Last night there were five separate incidents in the Shantallow area.
“Car windows were broken and attempts were made to steal cars. A motorbike was stolen in Ballymagoraty.
“As a member of the Outer North Community Safety Team I am working with other agencies and resident groups to make the area a safe and attractive area in which to live for local families.”
Colr. Tierney went on to say anyone with information should pass it on to the police and called on those behind the attacks to stop.
“Incidents like the one last night not only cause distress for those who have had their cars damaged, but for the wider community who become fearful of similar occurrences.
“It is essential that anyone who witnessed this incident or who have any other information contact the local PSNI,” Colr. Tierney concluded.
