The funeral of the thirteen year old tragically killed after a road accident in Buncrana on Thursday will take place this afternoon.

Callum Dale died after being hit by a car near his home in Inishowen. His father Peter, who was critically injured in the road incident, is an employee at the Inland Revenue office in Derry.

Callum, who suffered from Asperger’s, died from his injuries near Ballymacarry in the Cockhill area of Buncrana. The family live in the nearby Riverdale area. Local Garda Supt Eugene McGovern said the incident was a “very tragic” accident.

“We are investigating all the circumstances of the incident,” he said.

“The incident happened between 10.30pm and 10.45pm and unfortunately the boy was pronounced dead at the scene at around 11.20pm.

“His father was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where he is being treated for very serious injuries.”

Callum will be laid to rest after 2:00pm Requiem Mass at St Mary’s Church in Cockhill today.
