Supermarket giant Asda is the latest store to add the innovative Bubblebum car seat - the brainchild of an award winning Derry entrepreneur - to their range.
Grainne Kelly, chief executive and founder of BubbleBum, the world’s first inflatable car booster seat, says 2012 is shaping up to be the company’s “greatest year yet.”
Bubblebum launched in 2009 and is now available for sale in 24 countries across the globe.
The deal with Asda will see the local businesswoman’s product rolled out in 175 stores across the UK and sold online. Heaton’s, the Irish group of department stores will also stock the car seat in 16 of its outlets.
“This expansion into large and established UK stores marks a significant and continued development for BubbleBum, and we are confident that 2012 will be our greatest year yet,” says Ms Kelly.
“We are committed to raising awareness amongst parents and carers about child safety in cars, by drawing attention to the laws that are already in place to promote booster seat use.”
Bubblebum is already stocked by major retailers and e-tailers such as Amazon, Toys R Us, Kiddicare, Halfords online, as well as airlines such as BMI and Emirates.
Last November Ms Kelly was awarded the Derry Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award. Among her other accolades are the Belfast Telegraph Business Woman of the Year Award 2010-11, the Ulster Bank Business Achiever Awards 2011 and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist 2011.
