The Roads Department have been urged to carry out a review of the volume of traffic in Shantallow following a road traffic incident in the area this afternoon.
The incident occurred at Drumleck Drive and involved two cars. It’s understood some of those involved were taken to hospital for what police described as non life threatening injuries.
Several ambulances and the Fire Brigade attended the scene.
Local Councillor Tony Hassan who attended the scene of the accident said: “I hope that anyone injured in this accident makes a speedy recovery. Any accident can be a very traumatic experience. I would like to commend the emergency services for their quick response.”
Concluding he said: “It’s important that DRD Roads service carry out an urgent review of the roads in the area of. I have been raising for some time now the high volume traffic going through the area and problems that brings for motorist and pedestrians.”
