Six kayakers have been found safe and well after an emergency rescue operation in Lough Swilly.
An Irish Coast Guard helicopter and an RNLI boat were launched in a search operation following a 999 call. It’s understood that they had not returned to shore at Ned’s Point in Buncrana as the weather changed for the worse this afternoon.
It’s understood that the kayakers, some of whom were children, headed ashore with their instructor as a precaution as the wind picked up at around 4pm.
All were said to be safe and well and the operation was stood down.
