Sinn Fein Councillor Tony McCaul has appealed for people to stop dumping rubbish and litter on the stretch of road between Foreglen and Dungiven.

Councillor McCaul said among the rubbish dumped was what appeared to be the bonnet of a truck.

“Over this past week I’ve had complaints from locals about the state of the main road between Foreglen and Dungiven. When I checked about five miles of the road I found lots of litter scattered on the hard shoulder and, along some ditches bordering the hard shoulder, there was even a bonnet of a truck dumped as well.

“I’ve contacted the council and they immediately removed the truck bonnet. A litter pick is also being organised by the council to clean up this stretch of road,” said Colr. McCaul, adding: “I would appeal to everyone, especially drivers and vehicle passengers to take their litter home with them, or dump it at an appropriate place.”
