The next President of the United States Donald Trump said he wants to unite the entire country during his victory speech.

Democratic candidate and rival Secretary Hilary Clinton conceded the victory early on Wednesday morning, despite early pre-count predictions that Clinton would win.

Trump took to the stage with his wife and children this morning to chants of ‘USA, USA’ from the jubilant Republican fanbase who had gathered at his headquarters in New York.

Trump was officially declared the winner after taking most US states and surpassing the 270 electoral college votes needed, achieving 276 to Clinton’s 2018, with counting still continuing in some states.

In his speech, Donald Trump said Clinton had “congratulated us, it’s about us”, and paid tribute to Senator Clinton saying America owed her a “major debt for her service to our country”.

Trump said it was now time to “bind the wounds of division”.

“We have to get together. To all Republicans and Democrats and independets across this nation I say it is time for us to come together as one united people,” he said.

“I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americands and this is so important to me.”

He also pledged to rebuild America’s infrastructure and woulds focus on “renewing the American dream”.

On foreign policy, he said: “We will get along with all other nations willing to get along with us. We will have great relationships.”

Repsonding to the election result, DUP Derry and Strabane Councillor Graham Warke said: “You have to give the man credit.

“I wish him all the best and I hope he keeps the ties with Northern Ireland.

“Hopefully we can wecome the new President to Londonderry.”
