Vandals who trashed a lamp post beside a bus stop have been condemned.

Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan condemned those who cut down the street light in Ballyarnett Village this week.

Parents in the area have been urged to make sure their children are not getting involved in anti-social activity.

Local people who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area have also been urged to report it.

Councillor Hassan said: “I have been contacted by residents of the area who are angry that vandals cut down a street light which overlooks the bus stop at Ballyarnett Village.

“People are simply scratching their heads to think that anyone would go to these lengths to cause the damage and inflict inconvenience on users of the service.”

Colr. Hassan added: “This is a rural location and people rely on this service, plus they also want to feel safe waiting on a bus.

“I would ask anyone who has information on who the culprits are to bring it forward straight away.”
