Derry’s World Record Breaking Annie attempt gathered pace yesterday as Derry City Footballers swung in behind the bid.

A number of first team players were yesterday put through their paces at The Millennium Forum by Sandra Biddle and the children of her drama school. Footballers Dermot McCaffery, Stewart Greacen, Simon Madden, Mark Griffin and Michael Rafter and Derry manager Declan Devine all attended. The Foyle School of Speech and Drama have organised the City of Culture sponsored ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life’ attempt at Ebrington Square on March 2.

Declan Devine said: “It is certainly one of the strangest preseason exercises we’ve been involved in but we have a few dancers in our team so we are only too happy to be part of this. We are a community club and will do all we can to support the record attempt which is being held to help The Foyle Hospice.”
