The two local groups in the final of the National Lottery’s Good Causes Awards will take their campaign for public support to Stormont today.
The Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum (BBHF) and Achieving Something Special are the only two groups from the north who have made it through to the final of the prestigious Lottery awards.
The BBHF is competing for the title of best health project while Achieving Something Special is seeking to land the best arts project title.
They reached the finals after gaining overwhelming public support in the semi-final stage and both have joined forces to appeal for the Derry public to get behind them in the final, which will be held in London in December and will be televised.
Representatives of both groups will visit Stormont today to meet with local MLAs to appeal for support.
Foyle Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney who is hosting today’s event at the Assembly, said; “It quite an achievement for the Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum and Achieving Something Special to get to this stage. They are the only two groups from the North who have made it through to the finals of the televised competition. It will recognise the positive impact that Lottery-funded projects make to local communities.”
