This Sunday June 12 marks the second annual walk of Derry’s two bridges to remember baby Grace McGroarty.
The daughter of Stephen and Shauna McGroarty died at just 20days old from the preventable Group b Strep Infection in 2009.
Her aunties first organised the walk to raise awareness and funds for GBS support.
Shauna’s sister Charlene Grimes said “Both Shauna and Stephen are adamant that Grace’s passing be put to good use in helping to raise awareness of Group b Strep amongst pregnant women.
“If you’re unable to take part in the walk you can still make a donation on www.gbss.org.uk, click on their fundraising page and view ‘Sponsored Walk in Memory of Grace’.
“Last year we raised over £4000 for the Group b Strep Support group who campaign vigorously to have routine swabbing introduced as part of antenatal care.”
This year’s walk will take place Sunday June 12 leaving from the Waterside Railway Station at 11am.
Sponsorship forms can be obtained from Charlene on 07835509022 or on the Facebook page ‘Sponsored Walk in Memory of Grace’.
