Lovers of the great outdoors will be donning their hiking boots next month for the Sperrins 15th annual Walking Festival, taking in the stunning scenery in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from Friday, August 5 -Monday, August 8.

All walks are led by professional walking guides. Festival-goers will be spoilt for choice with walking options for everyone regardless of their age or ability. Choose from family strolls and fun-filled activities, to healthy lifestyle options and historic walks.

There are also three moderate routes to choose from with hikes over Mullaghcarbatagh and Mullaghclogher, Carnelly and the Craignamaddy Ridge. Challenging options include Mullagh’s and Glenelly, Craig Circuit and County Rock to Goles. If all of this isn’t challenging enough for you then why not opt for the Overnight Adventure which includes a two day hike over Sawel, County Rock, Meenard, Mullaghaneany and finishing on the 5 Mullagh’s, with an overnight camp in Plumbridge village?

Festival HQ is Plumbridge where an array of musical, dance and other festival activities will be held. All walks must be booked in advance by Friday, July 29, with the exception of Family and Healthy Lifestyle walks (unless you are bringing a group larger than 10). Those wishing to participate in the Overnight Challenge need to book by Wednesday, July 27.
