Weekend of art and science events at Fun Palaces

The countdown is on for Derry's first ever Fun Palace, where everyone's an artist and everyone's a scientist.

Fun Palaces will take place in the picturesque surroundings of the Craft Village this weekend.

The international festival campaigns for culture at the heart of community with an annual weekend of arts and science events created by, for and with local people.

The free family event is scheduled across two days, October 1 and 2 from 1-5pm.

It consists of art exhibitions, busking, dance, book readings, comic book art, and science and art workshops.

There will also be some cheeky clown fun and impressive circus performances.

Under the Craft Village canopy, there will live music from local musicians and entertainment from fantastic dance groups.

Across the square in the Craft Village Cottage there will be art and science workshops and exhibitions.

Comic book fun from Revolve Comics will also take place in the cottage.

A photography and fine art exhibition will be on display at 35 Shipquay Street, the site of what was previously the Social Studios Gallery.

The event is a free family fun weekend which promises to be a hit with kids, both young and old.

Fun Palaces: Everyone an Artist, Everyone a Scientist – The Craft Village and 35 Shipquay Street, Derry-Londonderry. Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 from 1-5pm.
