Shantallow Sinn Féin councillor Tony Hassan has welcomed the completion of the refurbishment work at Madam’s Bank Road.

Major improvement work was carried out on the road in recent months, resulting in traffic disruption and access problems for local residents.

Colr. Hassan praised the Road Service contractors for the improvement work and also the patience of local residents.

“This new system with the new road lights on each side of the road will make the area safer for road users and pedestrians.

“I have been campaigning for improvements here for many years. I think it is very important that we recognise the work and commitment of the previous Roads Minister Conor Murphy who insured that this project and other road schemes in the city has become a reality.

“You just have to look at such schemes as the Skeoge link, the new dual carriageway going out to the City of Derry Airport and the new traffic system at Culmore roundabout.

“I would now urge Road Service to complete one of the final pieces of the jigsaw in road infrastructure in this part of the city by starting the upgrade of Buncrana Road as soon as possible,” he said.
