One of the Western Health Trust’s top execs is to retire this summer.

The WHSCT’s Director of Acute Services, Geraldine Hillick, is to leave the Trust in July.

WHSCT Chief Executive, Elaine Way said she had accepted Mrs. Gillick’s resignation with “enormous regret”.

She added: “Geraldine has 41 years of service and has made a tremendous contribution in the West and beyond.”

Western Trust Chairman Gerard Guckian hailed Mrs. Gillick for the “tremendous leadership and commitment” she has shown throughout her career - especially during her tenure as the Trust’s Director of Acute Services.

“Geraldine has always selflessly gone the extra mile for patients and clients and her professionalism will be sorely missed,” he said.

Speaking about her decision to retire, Mrs. Hillick said: “It has been a privilege to work as Director of Acute Services here in the Western Trust. I am grateful for the commitment the Acute Team has demonstrated during my time as Director and the support the Chairman, Chief Executive, and fellow members of the Corporate Management Team have provided me with.

“As I move towards my retirement, I am reassured by the fact that the Western Trust has a very strong team of committed clinical leaders and managers who will drive further improvements in our services.”
