The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust), Health Improvement Department hosted a number of roadshows in Hospital facilities across the Trust area during Obesity Awareness Week 11 to 15 January 2016.

Lesley Finlay, Western Trust Health Improvement Department’s Physical Activities Coordinator explains: “The aim of the roadshows is to encourage everyone to be more physically active and to eat healthier. Obesity prevention is not about making huge lifestyle changes; it’s about making manageable changes which are easy to stick to.

“Did you know that you can lose 1 pound a week by trimming 500 calories a day? That’s half a stone in 7 weeks!! The easiest way to achieve this is to burn 250 calories a day by being more physically active and by eating and drinking 250 calories less a day.

She continued: “The roadshows took place this week during lunchtime in our hospital canteens and we are delighted with the response from staff and visitors. Health Improvement Department staff were on hand providing some useful tips and advice on how you can make some small manageable changes that will help you feel better!”
