Roe Valley residents woke up to wintry weather and a blanket of snow creating difficult driving conditions, and catching many people by surprise.

While the winter wonderland made for picturesque scenes, with snow covering Binevenagh and Benbradagh mountains, conditions on the ground weren’t so pretty for those caught in the morning rush hour, especially for those travelling on rural roads.

Reports of difficult conditions on the mountain road between Limavady and Coleraine come as warnings are issued that more snow may be on the way.

The Met Office has issued a warning that Wednesday is expected to bring more snow showers, but these are expected to die out in the morning, to be replaced by widespread heavy rain and gales.
