A winter wonderland will be created at this year’s Christmas Village, with a festive spiegeltent bar venue similar in size to the one erected in Derry earlier this year.
The council told the ‘Journal’ that preparations are now well under way for the opening of the village and music bar at Ebrington this Friday.
The Spiegeltent, which will house the festive bar, will be slightly smaller that the one set up in Guildhall Square during the Pan Celtic and Jazz Festivals back in April.
Speaking about what local people can expect, a council spokeswoman said: “This year the market will be based in our beautiful shared space at Ebrington which allows us to add some exciting additional features to the programme.
“We welcome back Legenderry on Ice, which will be bigger and better than ever and proved extremely popular among ice skating fans last year. And there will be even more family fun at the Festive Funfair and the Festive Film Factory, which will host daily screenings at 12noon, 2.30pm, 5pm and 8pm throughout the Christmas period.”
“The council spokeswoman added: “The seasonal Christmas Market is back with a wide array of gorgeous Christmas treats and stocking fillers, then, why not sit back and enjoy the entertainment in the atmospheric Spiegeltent, which will feature live music each weekend.”
The Christmas Village market and bar will open from Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 10pm, and from Friday to Sunday 12pm to 10pm.
The market will feature 25 wooden chalets offering special gifts and craft items as well as a selection of seasonal foods.
Legenderry on Ice meanwhile will have an added children’s ice rink.
The Christmas Village at Ebrington will open through until December 21st.
