Limavady schoolgirl Yna Csinero swam to victory at the weekend winning gold to become an All-Ireland champion.
The Termoncanice PS pupil competed against top swimmers in Ireland at the Irish Minor School Championship held at National Aquatic Centre, Dublin.
To the delight of her family she brought home two medals - gold in the U9 50m butterfly and bronze in the 50m breaststroke against a field of top swimmers.
Still on a high from her success, Yna told the ‘Journal’: “I feel very happy and very proud. My mum and dad and litte sister were there. They said they never expected me to win! They are very happy that I won.”
Yna’s school is delighted their pupil did so well.
“We have our own All Ireland Swimming Champion!!! Well done Yna, we are SO proud of you!! ...” Termoncanice said on its Facebook page.
Yna, who has been swimming since she was two, trains four to five times a week with Coleraine Swimming Club.
With an All Ireland title, she says her ambition is to become a professional swimmer and compete in the Olympic Games.
