New dressmaking class at Resource Centre

A dressmaking class for beginners starts next Wednesday, 7th November from 8-10pm in St. Johnston & Carrigans Family Resource Centre. It will provide an introduction to dressmaking, such as: how to use a sewing machine; using a pattern; and cutting out a garment. There will be innovative and practical tips for altering and remodelling your clothes. This course is supported through Donegal VEC Community Education Programme. A trip is being organised to see the pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Millennium Forum on Saturday 8th December. A coach will leave St. Johnston & Carrigans Family Resource Centre at 1:30pm for the 2:30pm show. Cost 10 euro per person (includes admission and transport). Places are limited. St. Johnston & Carrigans Family Resource Centre is holding a fund-raising community bazaar on Friday, 23rd November 2012 at 7:30pm. We would be grateful if you would collect any items that could be used as prizes or for sale on the day. Learn how to decorate your house for Christmas on Friday, 30th November at 7.30pm with Ann from La Maison, Letterkenny with new and creative ideas, techniques, seasonal colour schemes to brighten up you home at Christmas. Entrance 5 euro, including refreshments, mulled wine and mince pies.

Switch N’ Bitch: A chance to clear out those old glad rags, jewellery, shoes, scarves, shoes ect. you 
no longer wear from your wardrobe and swap for a whole new look.

St. Johnston & Carrigans Community Employment Project has a vacancy for one IT Worker and Office Support worker. Further details available from the Resource Centre, 074 91 48551 (St. Johnston). Applicants must be over 25 years, at least one year on benefit and eligible according to CE criteria.

Essential Computing: Basic Computer skills training including keyboard skills, Microsoft Word, letter/report writing skills, internet and email skills. The course will be accredited at FETAC Level 2. The Regional Employment Service can help long-term unemployed to get back into full-time employment, identify training opportunities, prepare CV and fill out application forms and much more. If you wish to avail of our service, the outreach officer will be in attendance in The Resource Centre, St Johnston on Tuesday 6th November from 11am to 1pm. No appointment necessary. Victorian Christmas event will take place on Saturday, 17th November from noon to 5pm in 
Monreagh Heritage Centre. There will be many features including Victorian carol singing, toy show, food demonstrations, traditional crafts, traditional music – and much more! Hot food will be available for purchase. Please contact the Heritage Centre on 074 91 40708 for more

Healthy Family Cooking on a Budget: Tuesdays 13th, 20th, and 27th November from 10am-noon. This programme will provide 
practical demonstrations, recipes and tips for providing tasty, healthy and affordable family meals. 
This will be a fun, interactive programme where participants will be encouraged to become actively involved in the preparation of the meals, with opportunities for questions and answers. Recipes will be provided followed by a tasting 
session of all food prepared. Session 3 will focus on preparation, 
cooking and sampling a seasonal family Christmas dinner. This 
programme is supported through Donegal VEC Community

Whist Drive: The next whist drive will be held on Monday November 26th at 8pm in St Johnston & Carrigans FRC, 5 euro per person. A light supper will be served.

Fundraising Rickety Wheel and Cake Sale: Killea Parish Hall Carrigans are holding a Fundraising Rickety Wheel and Cake Sale on Thursday 6th December at 7.30pm in the Old School Hall in Carrigans.

Stamps: If you have any used stamps, please remove them by cutting around the stamp and leaving some of the envelope around it. Bring them down to Maureen McLaughlin at the St. Johnston Post Office. These stamps will be used to fund charitable projects.
