Omens of British wtihdrawal

Sir,

Two British Army (M.O.D.) Chinook helicopters were sent over to the North from England during the past week, to drop animal feed over northern farms cut off by heavy snow drifts.

The British helicopters were joined by two Irish Army Air Corps (Defence Forces) helicopters in a joint operation to see that northern farmers got the much needed animal feed.

However! I hear the British suddenly withdrew their helicopters last weekend and left the Irish Army helicopters to continue the drop, which they did.

I feel this is a very political gesture (in itself, indicating that the British no longer have any further strategic, practical or economic reasons for retaining (UK) sovereignty over the North for very much longer.

The resulting (unionist) MLA’s concern about this could be wellfounded.

Yours,

Mickey Sing
