Following the extensive search operation for Sean McNair who sadly lost his life in the waters at Rathmullan pier on Saturday 16th July, Malin Head MRSC, Greencastle and Mulroy Coast Guard and Lough Swilly RNLI would like to express their profound thanks and gratitude to all the people who volunteered their services in so many ways to augment the search effort over nine days.
These include the shore searchers, the Naval and Garda divers, divers from search and recovery units, divers from numerous dive and sub aqua clubs, airborne searchers, pleasure boats, yacht club yachts and fishing vessels and other commercial craft. Pubs, restaurants and other organisations that provided accommodation, food and refreshment for all those involved in the search operation.
This represented a tremendous community effort with individuals, organisations and volunteers working closely with the statutory bodies to deliver a comprehensive and accurate search of the large beach and sea area in Lough Swilly.
Fortunately all this effort was successful with the recovery of Sean’s remains on Sunday 24th July.
Finally we extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Jackie Mc Nair and her family in their sad loss at this time.
Press Officer RNLI,
(on behalf of the above organisations).
