The 32 County Sovereignty Movement is expected to open an office in the city next week.
The office will be located in the Shantallow area of the city where a new cumann of the 32 CSM was established last week.

The new cumann is named after IRA volunteer Phil O'Donnell, who died in 1982. The chairperson of the new cumann, Seamus Bresl
in, said the new group was formed after interest from republicans in the Shantallow area.

"As a senior staff officer, Phil O'Donnell undertook the task of training the Derry Brigade of the IRA; he was interned in 1971 for eight months and later spent several years in Portlaoise on membership and weapons charges.

"After his release, he reported back to the republican movement. Sadly, Phil contracted cancer and died at the age of 50 on Christmas Eve 1982 and was a huge loss to his family and the republican cause," he said.

Mr. Breslin also said the cumann would "name and shame" drug dealers operating in the Shantallow area. "We will not hesitate, whenever necessary, to name and shame known local drug dealers and anti-social elements that plague the community.

"The RUC/PSNI is an implement of British political control and has proven itself to be a deeply sectarian force incapable of dealing with these issues.

" We are urging the people of Shantallow to stand behind us," he said.

Great to see republicans set up shop in the Shantallow area about time people challenged the anti social elements that are causing havoc to local working class people.

Finally developments. Its seems the Council dont want to do nothing, and the police prove more than inadequate in the area. I'm all for anything which can put an end to the disgusting behaviour which plagues Shantallow. Maybe the 18-30 club, (yes 30!) who clearly have no homes, will also come to realise that alleyways and parks are no longer an option.

If they do something about the anti social behaviour they will get a lot of local support, the current range of politicians have done nothing except waffle on the psni couldnt care less.

Last week the fire brigade came under attack in the bloomfield area tending to a fire lit by hoods and scumbags. The psni were contacted by a resident about the same hoods who had been torching cars the week before, but the psni were too busy to come out, 11pm on a saturday night, yeah really busy.

Name and shame the hoods!!!! and you have my support!!

Listen to yourselves, supporting vigilanties with baseball bats. Why don't you ask yourselves why kids are wrecking the place and spend your energy in addressing those issues. 32 CSM do not care about you me or anyone else but their own disgusting sectarian dirty war which will only ever achieeve bringing British soldiers back onto our streets. Policing in in transition with numbers being cut from 14000 down to 6900 to addres the 50/50. This is why we never get police when you want them. Plus fire engines are not the only things that are stoned on Galliagh. If the police did arrive they would be damned for starting a riot. These issues should be addressed and talked about as the area is vulnerable. Why else would the 32 CSM set up there anyway. Wake up.

You must've read something different from me because I didnt see any mention of baseball bats. I saw naming and shaming hoods. The police want the local community to support them but they wont support the local community! And truly if some car thief gets a slap why should I care? If they dont act like a decent member of society they dont deserve to be treated like one.

So why does some halfwit want to torch a car parked at some families back door? A few feet away from an oil tank which is beside a house where children are sleeping? Why, I would love to know but the reality is you'll get the shrugged shoulders or I was bored nonesense, or the stoned, drunk or whatever story.
Realistically the young people now have more to entertain them than previous generations.

As for the police would be blamed for starting a riot, the local community wouldnt see it that way if they did bother to actually show up and do something. As a resident of galliagh I worry that my car is gonna be torched or stolen how will I work as I need my car for my job? Or my kids bikes are going to be stolen and wrecked or burned beside our house as has happened. My wife and I work hard just like a lot of other families to give our children a decent home, and if someone will stop the behaviour of a minority who threaten this I will support them the local politicians do nothing, the police do nothing. I don't care if the 32 csm don't care about me, if they can help stop the hooding.

The sdlp dont care about you or me, sinn fein dont care about you or me either its all about their party agendas, which I dont care for. You could argue that this is all a sympton of modern society, I dont believe that.
So why dont you wake up maybe at last someone will do something about the hooding, no one else seems to be bothered. And that is something I welcome.

I agree with Urris. I dont need the 32 CSM to care about me. I just want to live somewhere where I aint plagued by people shouting and smashing bottles in my garden. Sinn Fein in the area are all face. Its the single parents and elderly in the area who try their best to keep their homes safe and the area respectable. And regarding targeting issues as to why the louts end up the way they do, theres more than enough initiatives and learning in schools to cater for this. Besides, these people are beyond learning. I could rant on about them forever...whats the point. If people who can stand in an alley for 12 hours in rain are still doing it by the age of 30...can we really expect change from within themselves? Not likely...

Good on the 32CSM. Get them sorted Seamus! Too much society this, society that! No more excuses for scumbags.
