Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan has said he hopes plans to build 300 social houses will get the green light when the developers meet with the Planning Service this week.
A social housing project at the new Skeoge road could deliver 300 new social houses if planning permission is granted.

“Planners and developers will meet this week to try and get an agreement on the development of the houses in the Skeoge lands and now that the Skeoge road is in operation there should be no excuse for holding back of these developments,” he said.

The Shantallow colr. said the houses would help to reduce the number of people on waiting lists. “The numbers of people on the waiting list in the city is growing every day and stands at 2,600, with 1,200 in a homeless situation and unless new homes are made available this homeless crisis will get worse. These 300 new homes at Skeoge will help a lot of homeless people in this city,” he said.
