Quigley's Point girl Fiona Doherty, Three Trees has recently been crowned the "Donegal Rose". For the first time since 2002 Inishowen could be represented at the International Rose of Tralee Festival.
Twenty-two year old Fiona, youngest daughter of Michael and Marion, competed against 15
other girls across the county to be named the "Donegal Rose" at the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny.
On June 14th Fiona will travel to Portlaoise to compete
in the Regional qualifier and hopefully her striking appearance and beautiful singing voice will take her to Tralee. So well done Fiona and the whole community wishes you all the best on the 14th in Portlaoise.
Redcastle Sports Day will take place next Sunday, 1st June in Foyle Park, Redcastle. There will be the usual track and field events. Admission three euro for adults and 1 euro for children. come along for what promises to be a brilliant afternoon of fun and entertainment.
The first anniversary of the 'John Lynch' Perpetual Shield sponsored cycle will take place on Friday, 6th June, from the Ture Inn to Rawdon's Bar, Moville. The cycle will commence at 6.30 p.m. sharp and please note that only over 15s can take part in the cycle. All proceeds will go to the Donegal and Foyle Hospices. There will also be a special prize for the person who collects the most sponsor money.

Quigleys Point Community Centre - There was no jackpot winner last week in the Quigleys Point Community Centre/RCD Ltd mini lotto draw. The winning numbers were 9:14:19:21 and the four 15 euro winners were Niamh McLaughlin, Redcastle; Ann McConway, Clunelly; Helena Kelly, Carrickmaquigley and Hannah McLaughlin, Ballyratten. The jackpot tonight will be 1925 euro.
Host families are required for Spanish students who will be visiting Inishowen in July and August. Students aged 11-16 years will attend school daily in Carndonagh from Monday-Saturday. Host families will receive a weekly allowance of 185 euro. Families without children living outside the Carndonagh area are eligible to apply.
A car boot sale will take place in the Plaza, Buncrana on Saturday 14th June. There will be Arts and Crafts and all different stalls. Doors will open from 9 a.m. for the setting up of the stalls. For further information telephone 086-3984451.
