ACTION was spread over two days at the weekend with matches in both league and cup as the local cricket season moved into its second week.

Brigade were the big winners as they defeated Bready on Sunday to leave them the only unbeaten side in the top flight. Strabane got their season up and running despite an almighty scare at Coleraine whilst there was no luck for Bond’s Glen who were thumped in the Northern Bank Senior Cup by Bready on Saturday and lost again in the league at Glendermott the following day albeit after a more spirited performance.

Eglinton pulled off the result of the weekend when they travelled to The Holm and hammered Donemana while Fox Lodge also recorded a facile victory at home to Limavady. In the first round of the senior cup Ardmore beat Creevedonnell to book a trip to Eglinton while Drummond beat St Johnston and The Nedd won at Burndennett to set up second round ties at Coleraine and Limavady respectively.
