The race for the senior title took a massive twist at the weekend after Coleraine won the battle of the joint leaders in a bizarre game at Strabane on Saturday while the Bannsiders then lost the advantage themselves the following day as they came unstuck at home to Donemana.

That win propels Richard Kee’s side into pole position in the title race as they had earlier blunted Limavady’s hopes and they could well hit top spot this evening as they travel to Creevedonnell for a T20 replay. Defeat in that would condemn Stephen Scroggie’s side to relegation after their game with Fox Lodge was washed out without a ball bowled on Saturday.

Bready stay in the hunt after they beat Glendermott while Strabane still aren’t out of it despite that reverse and Brigade put themselves into the chasing pack as they recorded back-to-back wins against Bonds Glen and the Roesiders.

In Division 2 the title could well be decided this week with Eglinton and St Johnston scheduled to meet twice in 4 days. The Saints kept their chances alive with a narrow 7-run win against Killyclooney on Sunday- a result that sees Richard McMorris’s side relegated to the new Qualifying League.
