St. Canice’s, Dungiven

This weeks lotto numbers were 3, 8, 19 and 20. There was no Jackpot Winner but the three £20 winners were Roisin Mc Cann, Barry Mc Elhinney and Margaret Rose Devine. Next Week’s Jackpot is £5,100. Thank you to everyone who supported the Lotto.

As we approach the final weeks of the season we’d ask parents to continue to support our underage training/matches schedule by encouraging all children to keep attending – there has been a dip in numbers recently and this makes it more difficult for the club to honour the commitment we make to other clubs to support challenge matches and blitzs.

Our U10 & 12 teams took part in a terrific competition organised by our neighbours, Drumsurn on Saturday. Both of our teams played brilliantly throughout the day against teams from Drumsurn, Tir na nOg (Antrim), and Milford (Donegal) and both returned home with cups as winners of their respective competitions. Well done to all our players and coaches.

As all underage training and match activity is communicated through our Club Website we’d strongly encourage all parents to register their email address there – it’s very easy to do…..log on towww.dungivengac.com and towards the bottom right-hand-side of the home page you’ll see a “Subscribe to St Canice’s News” header – simply enter your email address here and then reply to the automatic email that you’ll be sent.

Claudy

The senior team suffered a two point defeat to Castledawson in the championship after a very close game from start to finish. A few big decisions went the way of Castledawson which made it an uphill struggle for Claudy to get anything from the game. If we had taken a few scores at critical times in the game we could have defeated a very negative Castledawson team. Next game in the league is tomorrow away to Faughanvale, throw in 4.00pm.

The Reserve team defeated Ballymaguigan on Wednesday evening at O’Neill Park, producing a good battling performance to win by one point on a final score of Claudy 1-13, Ballymaguigan 0-15.

Under 14 team had a great victory over Newbridge in the Championship semi-final at Foreglen, final score Newbridge 2-6 Claudy 2-8. A great team performance which sets up the final against Craigbane.

Under 14s girls have to be congratulated on their performance in the final of the Shield last week. To reach the final at their first attempt is a credit to everyone involved, and to just miss out by one point, hopefully one step better next year!
