Derry manager John Brennan said he was sorry to lose the services of promising Lissan prospect Shane McGlone after the player suffered a double break of his shin before last week’s challenge game with Antrim.
McGlone is likely to be out for a lengthy period after the freak accident which occurred as the players were in the final stages of their warm-up for the game.
“It was a very unfortunate accident but hopefully Shane will make a full recovery,” explained Brennan.
“It was just one of those things that could happen at any time. The 3G pitch in Creggan was in perfect condition for playing, it was extremely unfortunate for Shane.”
