Abercorn can open gap on Premier Division summit

WITH Top of the Hill Celtic not in action this weekend, Derry & District Premier Division leaders, Abercorn, could move four points clear of the chasing pack this weekend provided they defeat Oxford United Stars at St. Columb’s Park.

Meanwhile, Trojans will face Don Bosco’s in the Creggan derby while basement side, Trojans, lock horns with Brandywell Harps. The Park Bar entertain Tristar while Culmore host Lisahally.

In the First Division, leaders Crescent take on Rocking Chair while Derry City face Maydown; Phoenix travel to Killea and City Herald face Campbell’s at Prehen.

Sunday’s Fixtures

Premier Division - Abercorn v. Oxford United Stars, St. Columb’s 3; Don Bosco’s v. Trojans, Brandywell Stadium; Brandywell Harps v. Porter’s, Brandywell Showgrounds; Culmore v. Lisahally, Culmore and Park Bar v. Tristar.

First Division - City Herald v. Campbell’s, Prehen 3; Maydown v. Derry City, Strathfoyle; Rocking Chair v. Crescent, St. Columb’s 2 and Killea-Nixon’s Corner v. Phoenix, Killea.

All games will kick-off at 11.30 a.m. and match reports should be e-mailed to arthur.duffy@derryjournal.com or simon.collins@derryjournal.com before 4.00 p.m. each Sunday.

Meanwhile, at last Monday’s Committee meeting, all teams were again informed that Permits must be picked up on the Wednesday of each week - not Thursday!It’s understood that the teams failing in this regard do not attend the meetings on a regular basis.

Fixtures for Sunday, October 7th - Premier Division - Trojans v. Porter’s, St. Columb’s 3; Lisahally v. Top of the Hill Celtic, Strathfoyle; Oxford United Stars v. Don Bosco’s, Swilly Stadium and Culmore v. Abercorn, Culmore.

Division One - Crescent v. Killea-Nixon’s Corner, Prehen 1; Derry City v. Rocking Chair, St. Columb’s 2; Phoenix v. Ballymoor, Lisnagelvin 2; Strand United v. Maydown, Templemore Central and A.O.H. Harps v. The Bentley, Prehen 3.

These games will all kick-off at the earlier time of 11.00 a.m. due to the fact that Derry City will play Shelbourne in the FAI Cup semi-final in the Brandywell at 1.45 p.m.
