BRANDYWELL Harps got their defence of the Terry Kelly Memorial Trophy off to a successful start with victory over Oxford United on Sunday in what was a repeat of last season’s decider.
Harps bounced back from an early Shane Quinn goal to book their place in the second round through goals from James Melly and a late winner from Danny Doherty.
Elsewhere in the first round, Park Bar secured their place in the next round with a comfortable win over Ballymoor while Don Bosco’s came out on top in an entertaining clash against Culmore Colts.
Two goals from PJ Ward gave O’Diochan’s victory in their first round meeting with Phoenix while Derry City were dumped out of the cup at the hands of Trojans.
And Top of the Hill Celtic progressed with a narrow victory over Lisahally. The Culmore versus Campbell’s game was called off.
