EGLINTON’s Shane Ferguson has been forced to withdraw from the N. Ireland squad for next week’s double header against Scotland and Finland due to injury.

And the Newcastle winger, who is on loan at Rangers, will be replaced by fellow Derry man, Danny Lafferty who has been called up to Michael O’Neill’s 27 man squad.

Ferguson (23), who has yet to feature for Rangers since completing his loan move, along with Kilmarnock midfielder, Sammy Clingan, have been ruled out with knee injuries and will miss Wednesday’s friendly with Scotland at Hampden Park and the Euro 16 qualifier with Finland at Windsor Park four days later.

Burnley defender Lafferty – who is currently on loan at Sky Bet Championship club Rotherham – and Dundee United midfielder Paul Paton have been called up to the squad as replacements.

Lafferty has played twice for Rotherham since joining earlier this month and has 10 international caps, the last coming against Chile in a mini-tour of South America last summer.
