City Seeded in Setanta Cup

The 12 clubs that will participate in the 2013 Setanta Sports Cup have now been confirmed and the draw will take place on Thursday, December 6 at Stormont.

And having claimed the Forde FAI Cup in the Aviva Stadium recently, Derry City are one of the seeded teams.

The four seeded teams are - Sligo Rovers, Linfield, Derry City and the defending champions, Crusaders.

The unseeded clubs are - Cliftonville, Drogheda United, Glentoran, St. Patrick’s Athletic, Portadown, Shamrock Rovers, Coleraine and Cork City.

Round One will take place in February, 2013 with first leg matches on Monday, February 11th and the second leg on Monday, February 18th. The second leg date is subject to Irish Cup replays and the reserve date will be Tuesday, February 26.

The quarter-finals have been fixed for March with the first leg matches on Monday, March 4th and the second leg matches on Monday, March 11th. Again the second leg date is subject to Irish Cup replays and the reserve date will be Tuesday, March 19.

The semi-finals will be played in April with the first leg games set for Tuesday, April 16th and the second leg fixtures on Monday, April 22nd with the final scheduled for Saturday, May 11th.

Pride of Northside

The Pride of Northside Derry City Supporters’ club will host it’s annual “Night at the Races” in the Three Flowers Bar, Coshquin, this Friday night, November 16th at 9.00 p.m.

Derry City manager, Declan Devine and members of the club’s playing staff will be present at the function accompanied by the F.A.I. Cup and everyone is welcome to attend.

Gala Christmas Draw

Derry City’s Development Committee have announced details of the annual Chrsitmas Draw which will take place in the Derry City Social Club on December 21st next.

Almost £5,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs with tickets priced at £5 each or books of 11 tickets for £50. This allows those selling a book of tickets to secure a free ticket for the big draw.

The winner of the top prize will receive £2,500. The second prize is £1,000 with the third prize of £500. Two further prizes of £250 each will make the five winners enjoy a very Happy Christmas.

The Development Committee have also added quite a few additional Christmas prizes such as turkeys, wines and spirits etc.

The Gala Draw will take place on Friday, This draw could prove to be a vital fundraiser for the “Candy Stripes” and those willing to help with the sale of tickets or, indeed, those who wish to purchase tickets, is asked to contact the Derry City Office in Brandywell Stadium, telephone: 02871-373111 for further information.
