The 20-year-old, who scored on his first team debut for the League One out-fit earlier this season against Peterborough United, is believed to be possibly returning home on what would be a loan deal.

Kennedy, who has been in sparkling form in recent weeks having scored five goals in his last two games for Athletic’s U23 side against Ipswich Town and Queens Park Rangers, would fit into Kenny Shiels’ approach of playing young local players.

The Culmore man has been in top goalscoring form this campaign having already scored 11 times.

The Northern Ireland U21 international would be a great addition to the Candy Stripes squad, however it’s believed a few clubs are trying to take the talented striker on-loan.
