“Steady” Eddie McCallion has opted to further his career in the Irish League with Glenavon and he departs Brandywell Stadium with the blessing of all fans of the “Candy Stripes.”

Having spent the past 14 years at his home town club, the City legend has been granted a two years contact with the Lurgan “Blues” and, no doubt, given his high levels of fitness, the local man will relish yet another personal challenge.

To mark Eddie’s loyalty and commitment to the Brandywell Club, City Supporters will stage a special function in the Derry City Social Club on Sunday night at 8pm to honour the defender.

Eddie has made a total of 519 appearances for City during which time the full-back scored a total of three goals.
