Colts came out brightly and hit the bar through Tom Mullan early on while Shea McConomy saw a rasping drive shave the post. Midway through the half however Swifts took the lead after a corner kick was bundled home.

After the break Colts began to boss the game and pinned Swifts back with Aaron McGurk having a header turned away by the keeper and Shea Kelly seeing his close range header brilliantly tipped around the post. Eventually Colts pressure paid off when McGurk smashed home the equaliser with 20 minutes remaining. However, in one of their few counter-attacks, Swifts regained the lead after their centre-back headed home from a corner. Colts once again hit back with Keenan Diver seeing his shot cleared off the line before Derry were handed the perfect opportunity with five minutes remaining when McGurk was hauled down for a penalty but unfortunately Caolan McBrearty saw his effort sail over.

Swifts held on but Colts can be happy with their performance if not the result as they prepare to Ballymena next weekend to play Carniny.
