Danny Ventre will clearly not be part of Derry City boss, Peter Hutton’s plans for next season after the English man confirmed he will not be returning to Brandywell.

The 28 year-old Liverpudlian, who was signed by former City boss, Roddy Collins in December last year announced his departure on his Twitter account this afternoon (Wednesday).

“Many thanks to @derrycityfc [sic] for my time there. Met great lads & staff. Good Luck in the future. #I’mBackontheshelf”

The former Sligo Rovers captain played 27 games in all competitions for the ‘Candy Stripes’ last season, including the FAI Cup Final defeat to St Patrick’s Athletic earlier this month.

His season was disrupted by injury but he made a timely recovery from surgery on a cartilage tear for the final few games of the 2014 campaign after eight weeks on the sidelines.
