Derry City have been paired with Shamrock Rovers in the semi-finals of the Ford FAI Cup following this afternoon’s draw at FAI headquarters at Abbotstown.

The ‘Candy Stripes’, who progressed to the last four of the cup with a convincing 5-0 home win in the quarter-final replay with Drogheda United last week, will face a difficult trip to Tallaght Stadium on Sunday, October 5th next, the game scheduled to kick-off at 3.55 p.m..

Derry boss, Peter Hutton agreed it was a tough draw but insisted it was a match his players would look forward to.

“We enjoy playing at Tallaght Stadium on what is a perfect surface which suits our style of play,” said Hutton. “Obvoiusly a home draw would have been the priority but we’ve won in Tallaght before and it should make for a very interesting game.”

City’s North West neighbours, Finn Harps meanwhile will travel to Richmond Park to take on St Patrick’s Athletic. That match will kick-off at the earlier time of 1.45 p.m.

Both matches will be televised live on RTE 2.
