EX-Derry City striker, Eamon Zayed claims the Brandywell club have done the best business in the close season by signing his former playing partner, Gareth McGlynn.

Zayed, who has recently signed with Indianapolos side, Indy Eleven who play in the NASL Championship, enjoyed an excellent relationship with McGlynn and ex-Derry City winger James McClean in the 2011 season when he finished with 26 goals and won the PFIA player of the year award.

The Dubliner this week tweeted: “Just saw @derrycityfc signed Gareth McGlynn. . . by far best signing in LOI for next season, quality player! [sic]

Zayed left Derry in 2011 to join Persepolis and then Aluminium Hormozgan in Iran. He returned to the League of Ireland with Shamrock Rovers and had a loan spell at Sligo before signing for Sabah United in Malaysia last season.
