Derry City 0, Shamrock Rovers 1

RODDY Collins found himself back under pressure with this defeat last night, the Dubliner againn the target of the Brandywell boo boys!

Fielding a very youthful side with both Rory Patterson and Patrick McEleney, Derry were presented with two superb early scoring chances but both Enda Curran and Barry McNamee failed to take advantage.

However, when Rovers did manage to settle, they basically dominated with Derry struggling in the final third.

The lively Gary McCabe went close in the 7th minute but his persistence paid off when he broke the deadlock with a stunning shot in the 33rd minute.

Having gained possession in the centre of the park, the winger let fly from over 30 yards, the ball appearing to bounce under the body of a stunned Ger Doherty.

Derry huffed and puffed but Rovers ;never looked in difficult throughout the second period.
