Collins takes over from Declan Devine who left the club by mutual consent several weeks ago.

Speaking to DerryJournal.com, new assistant manager, Peter Hutton, said he was “delighted” to be back at the Brandywell and added that he was relishing the opportunity of working alongside Dubliner, Collins.

“I am delighted to be back at the club,” said Hutton this morning.

“I think there’s a real basis of a good squad there and I also think there are exciting times ahead.

“I obviously know Roddy Collins quite well from playing against his teams and I am really looking forward to the challenge.”

Roddy Collins was interviewed for the job by the Board of Directors in Donegal on Friday. The former Shamrock Rovers and Cork City manager saw off competition from former Queen of South manager, Gus MacPherson, who was interviewed for the job on Saturday.
