The year was 1964, the opponents the crack Romanian side Steaua Bucharest.

Derry City had made it to Europe after winning the IFA Cup. Their goalkeeper - a young Gleneely man by the name of Eddie Mahon. And he had with him a ‘Box Brownie’ camera - “no camera phones, iPods, internet or Facebook in those days”.

Eddie has gone through his archive and dug out the photos from that historic trip. Don’t miss the pics and his recollection of an eventful trip in next Tuesday’s Journal.
