Colts went into the match on the back of two defeats in six days against Coleraine (0-1) and Ridgeway (2-1) when last minute goals in both games denied Colts valuable points. However, the boys were determined to put those defeats behind them and early pressure paid off after five minutes on Friday as Joe Callaghan fired home a wonderful strike into the roof of the net.

Colts started the second half in a similiar vein and five minutes in Callaghan once again delivered with a snapshot from inside the box into the corner of the net.

It came as no surprise when Sean Duffy added a third following a corner kick to seal the points. Portadown were denied a consolation goal in the dying minutes when McCann produced a wonderful save pushing a rasping shot around the post.
