Derry man Shane Duffy has been included in Martin O’Neill’s provisional 32-man squad for Ireland’s four forthcoming friendly games.
The Everton central defender has spent the season on loan at Yeovil Town in the SkyBet Championship and has said he would talk to Toffees boss Roberto Martinez over the summer to see if he features in his plans.
However Martin O’Neill is obviously considering involving the Galliagh man in his plans.
Duffy joins fellow Evertonians Seamus Coleman, who on Wednesday night was named as the Goodison Park club’s players’ and supporters’ Player of the Year, Aidan McGeady and James McCarthy in the Ireland squad-sheet which will be shortened ahead of the squad meeting up on May 22.
Ireland start their series with the Three International friendly against Turkey on May 25, followed by Italy in Craven Cottage, London, on May 31, Costa Rica in PPL Stadium, Philadelphia on June 6 and Portugal in Metlife Stadium, New Jersey, on June 10.
