Fancied sides through to Gilfillan Cup ‘semis’

THE Gilfillan Cup quarter-finals grabbed the headlines LAST weekend with the cup holders, Westbank United, cruising through to the semi-finals thanks to a 4-0 demolition of Tamnaherin Celtic.

And Clifton Villa also had a 4-0 win over local rivals Clooney while Brandywell Celtic returned from Strabane with a 4-0 verdict. In the last of the quarter-finals Phoenix Swfits rode their luck before defeating Foyle Harps in a five goal thriller.

In the Championship Northside Stars lost 5-1 when at home to Benbradagh Colts and Sion Swifts hammered Foyle Athletic 6-0.

In the First Division HML, Oxford United and Collon Celtic all recorded impressive wins while Greysteel recorded their first victory of the season whlle Art Deco and Tristar shared the spoils.
