Four new teams enter D&D for next season

Four new teams were accepted into the Derry & District Football Association at the Annual General Meeting this week which include Derry City F.C., City Herald F.C, Bridgend Celtic and Telstar.

And Three Flowers will once again be involved in the league next season, however they will be playing under the name of the their new sponsors, the Park Bar.

Also at the AGM , the chairman, Jimbo Crossan thanked all teams for their hard work throughout the season. He also thanked The Derry Journal for its coverage; Tommy McBride for his continuing sponsorship, the referees and Derry City Council’s Jeff Ashe and Karen Dillon for their assistance with the pitches throughout the year.

The following committee was re-elected for another term; Chairman - Jimbo Crossan; Secretary - Willie Barrett; Match Secretary - Liam Smyth.

The Premier Division teams for next season are - Abercorn, Top of the Hill Celtic, The Park Bar, Porter’s, Lisahally, Brandywell Harsp, Don Bosco’s, Tristar, Celtic Swifts, Trojans, Oxford United Stars and Culmore.

Division One teams are - The Bentley, Campbell’s, Strand United, Crescent, A.O.H. Harps, Ballymoor, Maydown, Phoenix, Derry City, City Herald F.C, Bridgend Celtic and Telstar.

The Derry & District F.A. Committee, on behalf of all those associated with the association, extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gerry McLoone who passed away this week.
