Everton’s Derry midfield star, Darron Gibson has been praised by colleague Arouna Kone, for helping his battle to overcome serious injury.
The Republic of Ireland international has missed most of the season after suffering knee ligament damage in an international match in November.
And former Sevilla forward Kone has endured a difficult first term on Merseyside, after being ruled out for the majority of the campaign when he injured his knee in October.
He has admitted that it had been a challenge to deal with such a lay-off at a new club but said the support and presence in the physio room of fellow Blues’ casualties Bryan Oviedo (broken leg) and Darron Gibson have helped massively.
“Bryan and Gibbo have been supporting me all the way,” he said.
“We call each other every day and there is brilliant team spirit here but especially with us three because of our shared experience.”
Hopes are high that both Kone and Gibson could make an appearance at the last home match of the season.
