THE GILFILLAN Cup competition continued last weekend in the Saturday Morning League as those involved attempt to qualify for the quarter-final stages.
In Group 1 Brandywell Celtic qualified for the last eight with a 4-2 win over Gransha-Institute while in Group 2 Phoenix did not have to kick a ball to qualify as Oakleaf withdrew from the competition allowing Phoenix a free run to the quarter-finals.
In Group 3 Collegians and Sion Swifts shared the spoils while in Group 4 Westbank United, the Gilfillan Cup holders, had to come from behind to overcome the challenge of Art Deco.
In Group 5 Clifton Villa had an easy win over Northside Stars while in Group 6 Strabane Athletic took the honours in their match against Greysteel. In Group 7 there were wins for Foyle Harps and Drumahoe over Newton Heath and Culmore respectively and in Group 8 Clooney hammered Du Pont to keep their qualification hopes alive.
