And champions, Park Bar got their campaign off to an excellent start but were made to work hard for victory over Derry City at Brandywell.
Elsewhere, Top of the Hill Celtic recorded a comfortable win over Culmore and Trojans netted seven past Porter’s.
Brandywell Harps also scored seven in their win over Phoenix while Ballymoor netted six past an understrength Crescent.
The shock of the day, however, came at the Swilly where the league’s new boys, Culmore Colts defeated Oxford Stars.
In the only other game played on Sunday, Abercorn impressed with a comfortable victory over Tristar.

Trojans striker, Kevin Ramsey sustained a broken bone in his foot and was taken to hospital during the Creggan side’s victory over Porter’s.
