HML cause major shock when defeating Clifton Villa in Gilfillan Cup

FIRST Division representatives, HML, caused the shock of the season so far when they sensationally knocked former Premier Division champions, Clifton Villa, out of the Gilfillan Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Westbank United and Strabane Athletic also progressed to the last four with the fourth quarter-final, between Brandywell Celtic and Metro scheduled for next Saturday.

In a full league programme, there was no shortage of shocks as Creggan Swifts defeated Pheonix Swifts to go joint top of the Premier Division and while Rosemount also stunned Brandywell Celtic.

In the Championship Gransha Institute moved two points clear on the summit thanks to their win over Tristar while Collon Celtic progressed with a good win over Art Deco while Sion swifts came out narrowly on top in a five goal thriller against the Bentley.

In the First Division City Colts were well beaten by Oakleaf Celtic and Phoenix Athletic Colts earned their first win in the Saturday Morning League thanks to a 2-0 win over Culmore. Oxford United also defeated Foyle Athletic on the same scoreline.
